Fern Rock Risk Partners was formed in September of 2023.  Although Fern Rock itself is technically “young” as an entity, the combined experiences of its principals make Fern Rock a formidable competitor in the independent insurance agency marketplace.

Fern Rock was born from the vision of its co-founders, Bryan D. Wright and Martin C. Muchnok, to acquire independent insurance agencies and align them in a mission to deliver superior, customized insurance and risk management solutions to clients.

Mr. Wright is a highly accomplished entrepreneur who grew his western Pennsylvania family-owned construction company into one of the largest traffic control providers in the United States.  Mr. Wright learned the family business literally from the ground up, beginning as a teenager operating heavy equipment in the field, to managing projects, to creating a wildly successful conglomerate of traffic control companies collectively employing approximately three thousand employees, with over 40 offices, and a fleet of over 1,200 vehicles across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Carolinas and Florida.  The nature of delivering traffic control services on such a large scale presents a multitude of insurance risks, forcing Mr. Wright to become a sophisticated consumer of insurance coverages and services.  The breadth of his experience as a consumer includes bonding on public projects, builder’s risk, general liability, commercial auto, workers compensation, EPLI, property & casualty, errors and omissions, employee benefits, employee theft, cyber coverage, fiduciary liability, and a host of coverage extensions and endorsements.  The depth of his understanding led him to form a captive insurance company to manage and control the insurance costs and risks associated with operating a large traffic control company.

Co-Founder Martin C. Muchnok has over 30 years of experience as an insurance professional.  Before co-founding Fern Rock, he was the President of a national banking insurance arm. There he managed a team of 115 people, increased top-line revenue by 150%, improved client retention rates, and more-than-quadrupled new business sales and net profitability over his seven-year tenure.
